Bio

Edward Armbruster, DO, MBA, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with advanced specialty training in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery. In 2010, he joined Mercer-Bucks Orthopaedics (MBO) in Hamilton, Lawrenceville, Princeton, New Jersey, and Langhorne, Pennsylvania. He is currently the Vice President of Mercer-Bucks Orthopaedics. 

Dr. Armbruster was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He grew up at the Jersey Shore. 

He attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, receiving his Bachelor of Science in chemistry and cellular and molecular biology. He then studied at the Boston University School of Medicine in Massachusetts, earning a Master of Arts in medical sciences.

At Boston University School of Medicine in Massachusetts, he researched the molecular basis of arthritis and connective tissue disorders in the Department of Rheumatology at their National Arthritis Laboratory.

Dr. Armbruster returned to Pennsylvania to attend the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, earning a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Armbruster relocated to New Jersey to further his education. He completed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – now called Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine.

During this time, he served at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey, for Level I orthopaedic trauma care and at AI DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware for pediatric orthopaedic care.

He also served as assistant team physician to the Camden Riversharks Professional Baseball Organization for the 2003 through 2007 seasons. Dr. Armbruster completed advanced fellowship training at Rutgers School of Biomedical and Health Sciences in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery.

Dr. Armbruster earned a Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand. He has been elected to full active membership in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, recognized as the premier medical society dedicated to upper extremity care, research, and education.

November of 2022, Dr. Edward Armbruster was elected President of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics. The AOAO is the representative body for all Osteopathic (DO) orthopaedic surgeons in the US.

He brings advanced treatment modalities in the non-operative and surgical care of hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder afflictions to Mercer-Bucks Orthopaedics. His extensive clinical and surgical training will be available throughout all MBO offices and affiliated hospitals.

Dr. Armbruster continues to advance the science of orthopaedic care by writing scholarly articles and lecture presentations. He regularly lectures at national orthopaedic meetings.
