Thomas Bills, MD, PhD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstructive surgery and general orthopaedics at Mercer-Bucks Orthopaedics in Hamilton, and Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and Langhorne, Pennsylvania. He is one of the founders of MBO.
Dr. Bills grew up in Trenton, New Jersey. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Syracuse University in New York. He then moved to Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to complete a PhD in pharmacology and a Doctor of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College, now the Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia.
He received advanced training in pediatric orthopaedics at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia; Trauma at Robert Wood Johnson Trauma Center in New Jersey; Joint Replacement at the Hospital for Special Surgery; Osteoporosis at Cornell Medical School; and Bone Tumor at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, New York.
Dr. Bills is an active staff member of Capital Health Systems and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and an active attending staff at Lawrence Rehabilitation Center in Lawrenceville.
He is an associate staff member at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. He serves on the research staff as a visiting scientist at The Hospital for Special Surgery in the Department of Orthopaedic Research at Cornell Medical School in New York City, New York.
He is a consulting staff physician at the Metabolic Bone Disease Service and Osteoporosis Center in the Hospital for Special Surgery at Cornell Medical School in New York City.
Dr. Bills is a member of the National Osteoporosis Foundation and a recognized Certified Fracture Liaison. He is a member of the International Osteoporosis Foundation and the International Society of Clinical Densitometry, where he maintains special certification as a Clinical Densitometrist.
Dr. Bills’s work is supported by the multiple honors and awards he has earned, his membership in various professional organizations, and an extensive bibliography and speaking engagement history.
